Creativity
A blend of private or group sessions, clinics, mixers, creative lands and Artist Talks, our studio is designed to support you musical journey while entering around your goals. Our thoughtful instructors will provide tailored, practical and impactful learning experience. Set in a performance-centred venue, you get the value of putting to practice, what you learn on an ongoing basis at a great price.
Culture
The Penthouse Studios and Black Music Village offers a masterfully equipped recording studio, teaching, performance and creative space where local and touring/travelling artists in the community and beyond can go from incubator and creative stage to testing, development and recording/production stage. Each room has a piano for your use and exploration.
Community
Our beautifully designed, intimate space with a touch of vintage African artistry, inspired by the true essence of the African Heritage and Culture - Community. The Village and the Cafè welcomes you into a community where artists are main character and they have a lot to share but without people, there’s no sharing. So the Village is our meeting ground, where artists connect to artists, community with community and artists with community. What a space to be in!

Designed for live music and storytelling in community, fuelled by training, collaboration, experimentation and mentorship .
The Village (originally Penthouse Family Studios) hosted its first gathering with community, featuring emerging artists of the African Diaspora in December of 2024. With meaningful support from organizations like the Steinway Piano Gallery in Calgary, Through Onyie’s Lens and the entire community, we hosted over 100 guests in the hamlet of De Winton to an African-Inspired night of live music and storytelling.
Open Studios: Saturdays
This journey of learning and creating is not complete without the community to share it with. Join a safe community of creatives committed to learning, growing and sharing their art in community, over coffee and laughter. We are curating an open studio in the Beltline where you can pop in, experiment on a project, work with available songwriters and/producers on site. Join our Open Studio/Cafe Sessions.

Our mission is to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment where artists - both homegrown and visiting, can find, share and connect community. A cafe where community - families and individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together to share their passion for music, through listening, training, mentorship, performances, over a warm cup of coffee or over a hot bowl of pepper-soup with friends, family and strangers.
